Launch of World Malaria Report 2014 in London

On Tuesday, 9th of December, I was honoured to attend the London launch of the World report on Malaria. The event held at the Macmillan room, Portcullis House, Westminster was well attended by Members of parliament from all UK political parties and most significantly graced by the presence of HRH The Duke of York, Prince Edward. The Duke praised progress made so far in the fight against the scourge and called for more information to be disseminated to the British public.

Other speakers included Pedro L. Alonso, Global Malaria Programme Director , WHO, Joy Phumaphi, Executive Director, African Leaders Malaria Alliance and Fatoumata Nafo- Traore, Executive Director, Roll Back Malaria.

I was asked to speak on behalf of Tanzania, given the contribution and progress that we are making in both research and in reducing malaria related deaths.
From left Jeremy Lefroy, MP and Chair of All Parliamentary group, Pedro Alonso, James Whiting- Malaria no more UK, Fatoumata Nafo-Traoure - Roll back malaria, Joy Phumaphi ALMA, Tanzania High Commissioner

Fiona Bruce - Conservative MP

Had an opportunity to speak about the contributing Tanzania was making in the fight against Malaria, both at the political level and in research

Adding words of gratitude for the tremendous progress so far, but urging that there is still more to be accomplished.
