Visits to Eton college - a premier boy's college

Eton College, often informally referred to as Eton, is an English independent boarding school. It educates over 1,300 pupils, aged between 13 and 18 years and was founded in 1440 by King Henry VI, as a charity school to provide free education to seventy poor boys who would then go on to King's College, Cambridge,

Eton is one of nine English independent schools, commonly referred to as "public schools", included in the original Public Schools Act 1868. Eton is a full boarding school, which is one of four such remaining single-sex boys' public schools in the United Kingdom (the others being Harrow School, Radley College and Winchester College) to continue this practice. 

It has educated 19 British Prime Ministers and generations of aristocracy, and has been referred to as the chief nurse of England's statesmen. Eton has a long list of distinguished former pupils. David Cameron is the nineteenth British Prime Minister to have attended Eton.

On two occasions I was privileged to visit the college. This was possible due to an invitation by a parent of a student and a friend tutor who visited Tanzania as part of a tour of students to Arusha in January 2014.

Eton is also a small town, with a journal on all that matter around the college

This was a special arranged tour to some of the best kept place. Note that portraits of Prince William and Harry who also studied here. 

The school is sticks strictly to traditions. Note the dress code adhered to.

As noted Eton is also a town of its own.
